Treats, Reads & More program helps Girl Scouts fund possibilities

Individual members and troops in the Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways (GSNYPENN) footprint are busy selling “Treats, Reads & More” (TRM) during the council’s annual fall product program. Participation through online and in-person sales helps Girl Scouts earn important start-up funds to begin the new member year while gaining lifelong entrepreneurial and leadership skills like goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics. “Treats” include delicious nut and candy items. New offerings this season include vanilla-flavored honey-roasted pecans, butter-toasted peanuts and themed holiday and Girl Scout tins featuring chocolate-covered pretzels and mint treasures. “Reads” are magazine subscriptions like Vogue, Bon Appetit and Better Homes & Gardens. “More” includes Tervis Tumblers and Girl Scout-themed BarkBoxes for four-legged friends and family members.
During TRM, Girl Scouts also earn rewards based on goals they set for themselves and the items they sell. This season’s “Super Seller” reward includes a special patch and Asian Elephant experience at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse for those with $1,000+ in sales by Nov. 12. (The 2024 TRM mascot is the Asian Elephant.) Girl Scouts can also earn Experience Credits to help offset the costs of programs, membership fees, uniforms, travel, camp and more.
TRM products are sold via the Girl Scout’s online storefront using a unique-to-them URL and traditional order forms. The program began on October 1 and order-taking via forms continues through today with the option for free local delivery. Customers can still purchase products online for direct shipment now through Nov. 12. Orders placed via forms will arrive around the week of Nov. 18.
The community can order products online here to support the council’s travel troop.
Troops will host 60-plus community booths across GSNYPENN starting Nov. 2 —with special emphasis on Election Day — through Nov. 11. This is a first-time opportunity to support local Girl Scouts and purchase TRM products in person. see locations and times below.
Customers can also purchase items for donation through Sweet Support. For every $6 donation, one can of treats is sent to Operation Gratitude. Click here for more information.
All TRM proceeds stay local. To support Girl Scouts, contact Customer Care at 315-698-9400, 800-943-4414, [email protected] or via the Let’s Chat feature at gsnypenn.org to be connected with an individual or troop participating in the program from your area.
